Gefilzte Kapuze / Felted Hood

Aus Merinowolle, Seidenfasern, Seidenchiffon und Schaflocken ist diese Kapuze entstanden. Es ist ein Geschenk für eine Freundin. Sie wollte eine Kapuze mit einem langen Ende. Das ist nun die Erwachsenenversion einer Zipfelmütze in verschiedenen Grüntönen. Der Blick ist etwas zu dramatisch – das liegt wohl an meinem viktorianischen Mantel.

This hood is felted with merino wool, silk fibres, silk chiffon and sheep locks. It is a present for a friend. She wanted a hood with a long end. This is now the adult version of a jelly bag cap in different green colors. The gaze is a bit too dramatic – maybe because of my Victorian duster.

Lana Grossa Cucito – abzugeben / for sale

Ich habe hier 10 Knäuel Lana Grossa Cucito, Farbe 005.  Inzwischen stricke ich nur noch mit dünnen Nadeln und diese Wolle ist mit 9er Nadeln zu verstricken!!! Ein Knäuel ist angestrickt. Die Maschenprobe habe ich wieder aufgeribbelt.

Die Wolle ist mit 77% Merino Extrafine und 15 % Polyester ausgezeichnet und lt. Etikett benötigt man ca. 500 g für einen Pulli in Gr. 38/40. Ich würde sie für 12,- € + 5,- Porto (versichert – Germany) abgeben (Privatverkauf). Bei Interesse bitte kurze Mail an mich.

I have ten balls of the yarn Cucito, Lana Grossa, color 005. As I don’t knit any more with bulky yarn I would like to pass it to someone else.  Of one ball I knitted a gauge which I frogged. The wool is 77% Merino and 15 Polyester and it is said on the banderole that 500 g are needed for a sweater size 38/40. For 12,- € + postage 5,- (Germany) it is yours.

Immer noch nicht fertig / still not ready

Es fehlt nicht mehr viel und das seit fast einem Jahr (man sieht ihn weiter unten in diesem Link).  Aber jetzt will ich den Pulli endlich fertig stellen. Ich überlege noch, ob ich den Bund nochmal abmache. Der Farbwechsel im Grau gefällt mir nicht. Hmm. Die Passe habe ich geändert, das saß einfach nicht. So war die Anleitung. Ich habe mehr Reihen im Streifenmuster gestrickt und so ist die Passe anders zu stricken.

It’s not much missing but this since one year (you see it when you scroll down in this link). But now I want to finish the sweater. I thinking of knitting the waistband once again. I don’t like the colour change in the grey. Hmm. The yoke I changed as it does not fit. See here the tutorial. I knitted more rows in the strip pattern and like this the yoke has to be different in size. 

Keine Chance für Schnecken / no chance for snails

Nachdem ich en masse Schnecken im Garten habe und meine Kräuter kaum eine Chance haben zu überleben, habe ich mir die Konstruktion der New Yorker Indoor-Gärten zunutze gemacht. Ich habe das Ganze aus Milchtüten angefangen zu bauen und es an ein Rosengestell gehängt. Funktioniert super, sieht allerdings strange aus. Ich werd mir noch eine schönere Variante überlegen. Jetzt weiß ich, dass es funktioniert, die Schnecken finden die Kräute nicht. Und jetzt bau ich es noch einmal in schöner Ausführung. Aus Plastikflaschen gebaut, sieht es so aus.

As I have countless snails in the garden and my herbs have though little chance to survive, I took the construction of the New York Window farms. I built it out of milk tetrapacks and hanged them in a rose rack. Works fantastic but looks a bit strange. I’m going to think of something that looks nicer. Now I know it works, the snails don’t find the herbs. Now I’m going to build it in a nicer way. Built with plastic bottles it looks like this.

 

Lebensweisheit aus Südtirol /Wordly wisdom from South Tyrol

Found in South Tyrol. I don’t believe it. It is complicated to translate:

The marriage is something sick, a bitter-sweet yoke, it is like an onion, you cry and eat it still.

Sounds a bit odd when translated as the rhythm is gone.  Maybe there are better ways to translate it.

Langes Wochenende in Südtirol / Long weekend in South Tyrol

Ich hatte ein wunderbares langes Wochenende in Südtirol, im Schnalstal. Ein Highlight war Schloß Trautmannsdorf bei Meran.  Der botanische Garten ist umwerfend.

I had a wonderful long weekend in South Tyrol, in the Schnals Valley. One of the highlights was castle Trautmannsdorf near my Meran. The botanic garden is stunning.

Lace Fichu Tuch / Lace Fichu Shawl

Das ist nicht mein erstes Lace Fichu Tuch und auch nicht mein letztes. Vom ersten Tuch habe ich leider kein besonders gutes Bild. Das rote habe ich zuerst gestrickt und das braune als zweites.  Momentan wird aus der aufgeribbelten Wolle bzw. aus dem aufgeribbelten Garn auch solch ein Tuch. Das Baumwollgarn ist vielleicht nicht ganz so gut geeignet, aber es geht. Es ist um vieles einfacher mit Wolle zu stricken. Ein Engeln-Tuch habe ich mal versucht aus Baumwollgarn zu stricken – furchtbar. Ich konnte das Muster im Gestrick einfach nicht erkennen. Die Anleitung für das Tuch ist hier zu finden.

This is not my first Lace Fichu Shawl and will not be my last. Of the first I have unfortunately no good picture. The red one I knitted first and the brown as second. At the moment I knit such a shawl with the frogged yarn. This cotton yarn is not really suited that good but it works. It is much easier to knit it with sheep wool than with such a yarn. Once I tried to knit an Engeln-Shawl with cotton yarn – terrible. I couldn’t identify the swatch in the knitted piece. The tutorial for the shawl is here.
